Thank you for being an essential part of our residential community. As the Spring semester comes to a close, we want to ensure that you have all the necessary information regarding the Spring 2026 closing procedures. Please take a moment to review the details below so you can plan accordingly.
All students must vacate their housing assignment 24 hours after their last exam or by 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2026, whichever comes first.
In cases where there are less than 24 hours between the last exam and the official closing date/time of the Residence Halls, residents must still vacate by 6:00 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
There is no paperwork to complete the check-out process. Upon check-out, all residents and their belongings must be removed from all residential areas.
Please keep in mind that students are expected to follow the final exam schedule posted on the web.
Spring Semester Resident Check-out Checklist
If your final exam begins after 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, and you need to stay until 9:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, you are required to submit a Check-Out Extension Request by Wednesday, April 30, 2026.
Students with approved extensions who stay past 9:00 AM will incur a $75 improper checkout fine and must vacate immediately.
You will be notified of your request status via your Ramapo College email by Monday, May 5, 2026.
Hours: The Residence Life Mailroom will have limited hours during finals week. Updated hours will be posted on the Residence Life Mailroom website on May 4, 2026.
Any packages not retrieved by the posted deadline will be discarded within 24 hours.
Residence Life Mailroom Website
Check-in dates and times for all Summer Sessions can be found on the Summer Housing website.
To maximize opportunities for quiet study, 24-hour quiet hours will begin at 8:00 AM on May 5, 2026.
Final room inspections will take place after residence halls and apartments have been vacated. All occupants are expected to work together to ensure the room, suite, or apartment is properly prepared for inspection. Residents who fail the inspection or have prohibited items will be billed accordingly.
The College is not responsible for belongings left behind. Any remaining items will be discarded immediately, and fines will be assessed against all occupants. Additional charges may apply for the removal of excess or bulk items, including trash and personal belongings.
While Residence Life paraprofessional staff may conduct inspections, final damage assessments, and billing decisions are made by Residence Life professional staff in conjunction with Facilities after the residence halls close.
