Virtual Career Services Fall 2020

With the continuing situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Career Center has modified its delivery of services. Roadrunners, we endeavor to meet your needs while keeping the health and safety of students, employers and staff a priority.

Student Assistant Program:

  • All available Student Assistant positions will be posted on Handshake. Use the keyword RCNJ to search for available on-campus jobs. Most positions will be posted by August 20th. 
  • There will be a limited number of positions available for students this semester and most of these positions will be performed remotely. 
  • Priority for Student Assistant positions will be given to students who have been awarded Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package.
  • Students with Federal Work Study awards will receive an email by August 18th from our office with information on how to search for available positions.

Employment Services:

  • Jobs and Internships: Handshake is an innovative, mobile-friendly career management platform which allows you to explore your career interests, find amazing job and internship opportunities, and connect with great companies and non-profits.
  • Employer Sessions: All networking events, employer visits and information sessions will be virtual. You will find additional information and can RSVP for all events on Handshake.
  • Fall 2020 Career Fairs: The Accounting Meet and Greet scheduled for September 23rd, the IT + CS Fair scheduled for September 30th and Government Fair scheduled for October 28th will be virtual. Please visit Handshake for more information about attending virtual career fairs. (EMPLOYERS can register directly on HANDSHAKE or email for more information)
  • Co-operative Education (Co-op): Many internships are now being offered virtually. Please see postings on Handshake and follow the instructions for reporting your internship on Handshake to receive academic credit. You must complete the outlined online process to register for the Cooperative Education course.

Career Development and Pathways Courses:

  • Appointments: All career center appointments are virtual via WebEx, Google Meet, email or telephone. Please make an appointment through Handshake and career advisors will send you instructions on how best to connect virtually prior to your meeting date.
  • Drop Ins: Starting September 1st, a member of the career center staff will be available virtually on WebEx for 2 hours each weekday for quick questions and to assist you with scheduling appointments. Please check back in late August for the Drop-In schedule and instructions.
  • Chat: Live Chat will be available soon – come back for more information.
  • Focus 2 Review Sessions: All Focus 2 Review Sessions are virtual (online sessions). After signing up for a session on Handshake, you will be given instructions on how to join the session.
  • VMock Advising: For Pathways required students, resumes must score 86+ prior to being reviewed by a career advisor. If after 4 uploads your score has not exceeded 70 points or is failing to increase, please request feedback from your career advisor through VMock or email your career advisor.

Roadrunner Treks

Ramapo students meet with alumni working at NBC for career tips and a tour of the global operations center in Englewood Cliffs.

Students met with BMW’s CEO for NA and got an inside look at the latest vehicles during their visit to headquarters on March 5, 2018.
