All Graduate applicants must submit the Graduate Programs Application Form with a non-refundable $65 application fee or fee waiver. Please review the general application requirements below and any additional requirements for the program you are applying to.

General Application Requirements

  • A completed Graduate Application
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a recommended grade point average of 3.0
  • Official transcript(s) for all previously attended institution(s). Transcripts from outside of the United States must be evaluated by WES (preferred) or any other current member of NACES:
  • A 250-word personal statement describing why the candidate is interested in the program, how it fits into personal intellectual development and what the applicant expects to accomplish by enrolling*
  • One letter of recommendation*
  • Resume
  • Applications without payment or waiver will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed

*Additional Program Requirements

Master of Science in Data Science

  • Computer programming, statistics, and linear algebra coursework or experience will be required. Students with undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and other quantitative fields will likely meet these requirements based on courses already completed. For students without this background, Ramapo offers a variety of paths for students to quickly and economically meet these requirements prior to enrollment. Work experience will also be considered when evaluating whether a student meets the programming and mathematics requirements for enrollment. Each applicant will be evaluated individually by a faculty committee to determine which options are appropriate.

Master of Arts in Special Education

  • Valid state-issued teacher certification
  • 2 letters of recommendation

Master of Arts in Educational Leadership

  • Valid state-issued teacher certification

Master of Science in Nursing

  • Valid RN license
  • For Nursing Administration and Family Nurse Practitioner – min. 2 years work experience
  • 2 letters of recommendation

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Interview may be required after application review by program director
  • For eligibility for MBA Advanced Standing (30 credit-accelerated option) students must have undergraduate bachelors in business, major or minor. ALL core foundational business courses must have been completed in the major or minor.

Master of Social Work (MSW)

  • 2 evaluation surveys, using the Recommendations area of the application (as seen in application)
  • In place of personal statement – a 3-5 page narrative answering the following questions – How do your values, philosophy, knowledge of social issues, and professional and community experiences align with the social work profession? Comment on your skills, strengths and areas of needed improvement. What are your plans for a career in social work, including your reasons for choosing a particular focus of service in the field?
  • Fieldwork Evaluation for MSW Adv. Standing applicants
  • Interview may be required

Master of Science in Accounting (MSAC)

  • a bachelor’s in Business or Accounting is required, those without a Business or Accounting degree may be eligible for an MS Accounting transition program with consult of program director; those with a business degree must have foundational accounting, finance, and tax coursework

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

  • MSN from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3.3 GPA
  • Advanced Practice Certification (NP certification/Licensure, Advanced Certification in Nursing Administration)
  • 1000 hours post-baccalaureate clinical residency (hours accrued in the Ramapo College MSN program and for annual maintenance of certification can be included in the 1000 post-baccalaureate hours required. Hours beyond those included in the DNP curriculum (540) will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Personal Statement with a focus on potential practice problem
  • Interview

International Students

  • Preferred WES Evaluated Transcripts or Evaluated transcripts from an approved current member of NACES
  • Affidavit of Support
  • Bank Statement
