Statement on Diversity

The Center for Health & Counseling Services at Ramapo College is committed to promoting and supporting diversity, while fostering an atmosphere of safety, inclusiveness, and respect.  We view diversity as broad and inclusive, representing the many social and cultural groups in our society.  We embrace and respect individual differences in age, gender, culture, race, ethnic identity, disability status, religious affiliation, sexual identity, and socioeconomic status.  We also recognize that for certain historically marginalized and underrepresented cultural groups, issues such as power and privilege, stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination can have a significant impact on their life experiences.

The Center for Health & Counseling Services strives to provide a safe, accepting, and validating environment for all individuals, embracing their cultural background and identity. We seek to provide a caring service environment in which individual differences are valued and respected, and where dignity and individual rights are protected and affirmed.  As a college community, our lives are inevitably interconnected, and we all benefit from genuine understanding, respect, and appreciation of cultural diversity.
