YES…I Want to Help…

My family always encouraged me to pursue a college education. While I wanted to make them proud, the cost seemed out of reach. Receiving a donor-funded scholarship from the Ramapo College Foundation turned my dream into a reality. I didn’t just attend classes at Ramapo College; I maximized my student experiences because of the financial support provided.

During 2019-2020, I had the chance to grow and explore numerous academic and extracurricular opportunities. As a dedicated social work graduate student, I immersed myself in different engagements and gained independence in ways I could have never imagined – until the Coronavirus pandemic hit.  It was a heartbreaking and scary time.

My mother lost her job and Ramapo’s commencement — the culmination and celebration of five years and two degrees for me — was postponed.  Everything felt uncertain and overwhelming.  A Commencement ceremony eventually took place but the fear that my mother’s unemployment brought was palpable. However, thanks to the generosity of donors like you, my tuition and other school expenses were more manageable than they would otherwise have been. It was one less concern for my family and me. If not for my scholarship, it truly would not have been possible to complete my degree. The scholarship brought some peace of mind to my home, knowing my education would be completed on time amidst the pandemic’s chaos.  Ramapo was – and remains – there for me.  And I am especially grateful.

The generosity of alumni, parents, and friends is important more than ever.  Just imagine the stories – and possibilities – your gift creates.  I encourage you to assist others like me by supporting the 2020-21 Fund for Ramapo College with a gift.

Thank you for supporting Ramapo College students.

With kind regards,

The Fund for Ramapo College

By offering unrestricted support to the College, the Fund for Ramapo College affords leadership the flexibility to embrace new ideas and emerging opportunities, while meeting the continually-evolving needs of the Ramapo College community. This is especially important now, during the pandemic. Every student, faculty member and corner of campus benefits from the fund for Ramapo. It is truly the most powerful tool in unlocking the College’s potential.

In a very short time, we were able to adjust our delivery of education, employ new forms of remote technology, empower faculty and move almost our entire workforce off-campus. Donations to The Fund for Ramapo College gave us the resources we needed to make that possible.

It is no surprise that Ramapo’s stature continues to climb as giving support from alumni, parents, students, faculty/staff, friends, and board members grows, helping to provide student scholarships, fund faculty development, enhance curricular programs, support undergraduate research opportunities and subsidize faculty lines.

Did you know that the CARES Act allows you to donate up to $300 to qualified organizations in 2020 and receive a reduction to your adjusted gross income by the same amount? Two additional opportunities with tax benefits include the donation of appreciated securities and gifts made through the IRA Charitable Rollover program.  Please contact David Terdiman, Assistant Vice President of Advancement, with any questions about these opportunities, 201.684.7179/
