Microsoft Teams

At Ramapo College, Microsoft Teams serves as our primary, all-in-one platform for video conferencing, collaboration, and academic engagement. It seamlessly integrates with Canvas courses and Google Calendar. This means that whether you are joining a synchronous remote lecture, participating in a department meeting, or collaborating on a group project, Teams provides a secure environment that keeps all your shared files and recorded sessions in one centralized location.

Q & A

Q: What is the difference between a “Chat” and a “Team”?
A Chat is best for 1-on-1 or small group informal conversations. These are private and not visible to others.
A Team is a collection of people, content, and tools based on a specific project or department. Within a Team, you use Channels to organize discussions by topic.

Q: How do I get someone’s attention in Teams?
Use the @mention feature. Typing @ followed by the person’s name sends them a direct notification. You can also @mention an entire Team or Channel to alert everyone involved.

Q: Can I work on a file with someone else at the same time?
Yes. Instead of sending attachments back and forth, upload the file to the “Shared” tab in a channel. Everyone can edit the document simultaneously within Teams.
