Google Docs: From Document Collaboration to Voice Dictation

April 6, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm

The Docs application is part of G Suite (formerly Google Apps) that includes a word processor, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings and web forms. This workshop will focus on the Docs word processor, where you will get hands-on experience creating, sharing and editing a document with others, all in your browser. Docs eliminates multiple versions of files, and incorporates text chat for live collaboration. Docs newest feature “voice typing,” will be demonstrated, which uses dictation instead of traditional keyboard text entry. If typing slows you down, you will surely like this feature.

Pedagogy Connection: Google Docs enables instructors to create collaborative assignments and peer editing groups. This is also an excellent tool for brainstorming and sharing important class information.

Open to everyone.
