The Trading Lab’s goal is to enable the students to learn concepts in the classroom and experience how those concepts are applied and used in real world. The workstations in the Lab are loaded with software from Financial Trading System (FTS). The FTS software provides tools and teaching material to integrate its use into the curriculum for courses in finance, accounting, and economics.

The FTS Real Time System enables student to create and manage a virtual portfolio of global equity securities. Students evaluate securities using equity valuation methodologies, use modern portfolio theory to construct portfolios, and discuss investment merits of a security on a risk/reward basis. The FTS Interactive Markets system provides a trading platform that simulates markets. This system provides specially designed trading cases that explore topics such as liquidity, volatility, transaction costs, and price efficiency. Students learn about price discovery in different market structures, such as double auction, call auction, and dealer markets.
