2025 Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan (VSIP) & Other Cost Savings Initiatives

About the Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan (VSIP)

As President Jebb emphasized at the recent Communications Meeting, we remain focused on knowing who we are, looking ahead with intention, and staying agile in the months and years to come.

In that spirit, we are introducing a series of voluntary initiatives aimed at positioning the College for long-term sustainability, strategic growth, and agility. These efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student success, a vibrant and inclusive community, and responsible, forward-thinking stewardship. We believe these talent management initiatives will allow us to reduce costs, reallocate resources, and build on our strategic priorities.

We are pleased to share that the following initiatives will be available to full time employees.  Please note eligibility varies for each initiative.

VOLUNTARY INITIATIVE #1:

Voluntary Separation Incentive Program (VSIP)

The VSIP is designed to support employees who may be considering retirement or a career change by offering a financial incentive for voluntary separation.

Key Details:

  • Eligibility: Full-time Faculty, AFT Professional Staff, and Managers with at least 10 years of Ramapo College service as of May 31, 2025. The College is currently in discussions with CWA and IFPTE to determine if participation in Initiative #1, VSIP for their members would be possible.
  • Application Deadline: June 8, 2025
  • Separation Dates: July 1, 2025; October 1, 2025; or January 1, 2026
  • Program Structure: See Exhibit A

In some cases, POER and Core leadership may collaborate with participants to adjust separation/departure dates in order to foster a smoother overall transition.  In those instances, the program structure payout will not be changed.

We realize that for many of you this decision is a very big step as you transition to the next chapter and we want to help make this transition as easy as possible.  As such, we are also offering employees who elect to participate in the VSIP to maintain access to their offices for the first three months following their last day of employment.

The College will also offer to cover the cost of your membership in the FRIENDS OF RAMAPO for the first year following your separation.  In addition, for employees who have been at the College for 20 years or more, we can provide some access to shared office space with computer access if requested based on availability and academic operational priorities.
