Voluntary Separation of Service Incentive Plan (VSIP)

VSIP

Mindful of our promise to our students, the College walks with a purpose— we recognize our competitive landscape and the critical importance of our public mission. Walking with a purpose means we remain mission-centered as we deploy a variety of strategies to be more agile through greater control of our expenses, enhanced effectiveness of our workflows, and diversification of our revenues. For example, we are:

  • re-shaping our investment strategies,
  • increasing enrollment and fundraising,
  • modeling a new ERP system,
  • growing our partnerships
  • building alternative revenue streams, and
  • reallocating resources to key priorities.

One of the strategies we are deploying for 2024 is a Voluntary Separation of Service Incentive Plan (VSIP) for faculty and staff who meet certain eligibility requirements.

The decision to express interest in the VSIP rests entirely with you. Should you meet all eligibility requirements and decide to participate, your request will be granted. The College last offered a VSIP in 2022 and, at that time, 26 of our colleagues benefitted from participating in it. The College cannot guarantee that there will be additional opportunities in the coming years to participate in a VSIP.

The People Operations & Employee Resources (POER) Team will again be available to ensure a smooth transition for eligible employees who choose to participate and for departmental leadership and peers as transition plans are developed. In some cases, POER and departmental leadership may collaborate with participants to adjust separation/departure dates in order to foster a smoother overall transition. During this time, POER will also work with departmental leadership to determine how the duties and responsibilities of those employees who have elected to participate in the program may be distributed, performed differently, or when the department will hire a replacement.

If you wish to learn more about the VSIP, please contact Johnie Burton at jburton@ramapo.edu.  POER is planning on hosting information sessions on March 26, 2024 and April 3, 2024. If you are eligible and decide to participate, notification to the College is required by April 30, 2024.

We wish to thank the AFT leadership for their collaboration and agreement on the terms of the VSIP MOA.  We are working closely with our other union partners and will provide an update as soon as information is available regarding their participation.

We appreciate, your consideration of this unique opportunity.

Information Sessions will be available on:

March 26, 2024 at 11:00 am – 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the York Room

April 3, 2024 at 11:00 am – 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in  SC156
