Fall 2024 New Student Experience

Welcome to Ramapo College!  We are so excited to have you a part of the Ramapo College community.  We have created a great experience for you and are confident that it will help you acclimate to life at Ramapo.  New Student Experience is a multi-step process for all new students. Each step in the process is listed below and will be viewable in your admissions portal as they become available.

First-Year Students

Here is how your New Student Experience will be completed:

  • Step 1: Complete any necessary Placement Testing
    • Unsure of what tests are required complete this form.
    • Please note, for SAT/ACT scores, AP scores and/or transfer credits to exempt you from testing, you must officially send transcripts/score reports to admissions@ramapo.edu.
  • Step 2: On May 1st or after deposit, log in to your Deposited Student Portal and register for your in person orientation experience.
    • Orientation is a one day program running from 9am-4pm.  The following dates will be available:
      • June 25, 2024
      • June 26, 2024
      • June 27, 2024
      • July 9, 2024
      • July 10, 2024
      • July 11, 2024
      • July 16, 2024
      • July 17, 2024
      • July 24, 2024
  • Step 3: Beginning May 1st or after deposit, complete your Virtual New Student Module prior to your in-person orientation and advisement session. You will be invited to join a Canvas course to complete the module on or around May 1st or 24-48 hours after you deposit if after May 1st. Canvas is our online learning management system.
    • To accept your invitation, log in to Canvas using your Ramapo username and password.
    • At the top of your dashboard in green there will be an option to accept the invitation to your Virtual New Student Module.
    • Complete all of the lessons as required.
  • Step 4: Join us for Welcome Week starting with New Student Move In and Check In on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Transfer Students

Here is how your New Student Experience will be completed:

  • Step 1: Complete any necessary Placement Testing (if applicable)
    • Unsure of what tests are required complete this form.
    • Please note, for transfer credit, AP scores and/or SAT/ACT scores to exempt you from testing, you must officially send transcripts/score reports to admissions@ramapo.edu.
  • Step 2: Beginning May 1st or after deposit, complete your Virtual New Student Module prior to your in-person orientation and advisement session. You will be invited to join a Canvas course to complete the module on or around May 1st or 24-48 hours after you depsoit if after May 1st. Canvas is our online learning management system.
    • To accept your invitation, log in to Canvas using your Ramapo username and password.
    • At the top of your dashboard in green there will be an option to accept the invitation to your Virtual New Student Module.
    • Complete all of the lessons as required.
  • Step 3: On May 1st or after deposit, log in to your Deposited Student Portal and
    • Sign up for your one on one academic advisement appointment.
    • Sign up for an Explore Campus: Transfer Edition event in July to take your student ID, become familiar with campus, meet new classmates and learn from key offices on campus. Log in to your admissions portal to sign up!
      • The following dates will be available:
        • Thursday, July 18th from 10am-2:30pm
        • Tuesday, July 23rd from 2pm-4:30pm
  • Step 4: Join us for Welcome Week starting with New Student Move In and Check In on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

  • Accelerated Nursing Students contact Jaelene Palao at palao1j@ramapo.edu to set up an appointment for orientation and advising.
  • RN to BSN Students contact Lisa Potenza at lpotenza@ramapo.edu to set up an appointment for orientation and advising.
  • TA to Teacher Students contact Julie Norflus-Good at jgood@ramapo.edu to set up an appointment for orientation and advising.
  • Readmit Students (previously studied at Ramapo) Beginning in May, sign up for your one on one academic advisement appointment via the link in your admissions portal.
  • Degree Completion Program (DCP) Students contact Trish Laprey at plaprey@ramapo.edu for more information about your orientation program.
  • Passaic 2+2 and 3+1 Students contact Nora McCarthy at nmccart1@ramapo.edu for more information about your orientation program.
  • International Students contact Rajesh Adhikari at radhikar@ramapo.edu for more information about your orientation program.
