The VETeach Program, established by the New Jersey Department of Education, aims to help veterans become certified teachers. The program will simplify the process, building upon your current skills and experience. It will also allow you to continue your commitment to service while helping to meet the demand for qualified and committed educators in New Jersey.
The 36-month teacher preparation program leads to a baccalaureate degree and completion of the requirements necessary to apply to the State Board of Examiners for a certificate. Veterans will receive the necessary training, resources and support to successfully transition into the teaching profession. This includes opportunities for hands-on teaching experience in local New Jersey schools.
Upon completion of coursework, students will receive a certificate of eligibility with advanced standing. This will allow you to seek employment as a teacher in grades kindergarten through eight, and in certain secondary education fields.
Ramapo College of New Jersey is one of only four institutions chosen by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) to offer the VETeach Program. Here, veterans can gain the skills needed to teach, while also fostering a sense of community.
