In 2017 three Ramapo College students (Julianna Spiezia ’17, Victoria Canavan ’17, and Lindsay Perrotti ’17) crafted a Public Service Announcement (PSA) entitled “Ramapo Stands” about the role of bystanders and tools employed in bystander intervention.
The student leaders featured in the video each share a different strategy for bystanders to step in to disrupt the potential for violence and support sexual assault survivors.
"Ramapo Stands" is a movement created by three Seniors, Julianna Spiezia '17, Victoria Canavan '17, and Lindsay Perrotti '17, to empower students to take a stand against sexual violence on campus through education and action. These three student leaders in this video each share a different strategy for stepping in to disrupt the potential for violence and support survivors. Ramapo Stands believes: "If you see or hear something that signals a likely assault, get to a safe location and report it to campus security as soon as possible. Additionally, jokes about sexual assault are not just locker room talk. They are often a predecessor of real incidents and real consequences." Learn more about the movement by visiting Ramapo Stands.
