Math Placement Re-Test Policy

Placement Test Scores (ACCUPLACER Online) will be valid for a period of 2 years from the initial testing date.   Students who take ACCUPLACER at Ramapo College and score within retesting range will be allowed only 1 re-test opportunity per test section.

Test scores that fall within the following ranges are eligible for the re-test option:

• Advanced Algebra and Functions 275-279 (Calculus) 250-259 (Pre-Calculus)
• Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics test: 248-257

Ramapo offers a Reclaim My Math program every summer and can allow you to re-test with any math score. This is a targeted review program that allows students to sharpen their skills and at the end of the program, retake their math placement test. Over the last few years of the program, 80% of the students who complete the program test up into the 100 level.

Reading/Essay Placement Re-Test Policy

Placement Test Scores (ACCUPLACER Online) will be valid for a period of 2 years from the initial testing date.   Students who take ACCUPLACER at Ramapo College and score within retesting range will be allowed only 1 re-test opportunity per test section.

Test scores that fall within the following ranges are eligible for the re-test option:

• WritePlacer (Essay) 1-6

Re-test Fees (payment is due at appointment registration):

$10 for each test section. Students may not re-test on the same day as initial testing. There is a wait time of 10 days between initial test and retest. After re-testing, the score that will be valid will be the higher of the two scores.  Once students begin their developmental course work the re-test option is no longer available.
