Welcome to the MBA Program!

Congratulations on your acceptance and enrollment in our Master of Business Administration (MBA) program! Please know how much we appreciate your decision to choose Ramapo College for your graduate studies.

The following tabs will provide you with important information you will need as a newly admitted student. It is important that you read through each section and contact us with any questions you may have. Welcome to Ramapo!

Submit Your Deposit

In order to hold your spot in the Cohort, please submit your $250 deposit to the Graduate Admissions Office. You can send the check with your Intent to Enroll form, or afterwards, in a separate envelope.

Please make the check out to Ramapo College of New Jersey and include your R# (listed in your acceptance letter) in the memo line. You can then mail the check to:

Activate Your Ramapo Email

As an admitted MBA student, faculty and staff will be using your Ramapo email to communicate with you. In order to activate your Ramapo GMAIL account, you will need your ‘R’ number (your Ramapo ID number). You can find this in your acceptance letter. Setup your account here.

Link to the MBA Calendar through your Ramapo GMAIL account, to view important dates, including the start and end date of terms, breaks, events and seminars, etc.

Please note: This calendar also includes dates for Admissions Events and Current Cohorts. If the event pertains to your class, it will have your cohort year. For example, students starting in Fall 2017 will be referred to as (2017 Cohort), which will be written in the event title.

  • Sign into your Ramapo GMAIL account.
  • Click the Apps Icon > Click Calendar

  • On the bottom left side of your screen, under Other Calendars, type in “mba@ramapo.edu”. This will add the MBA Calendar to your GMAIL Calendar.

Web-Self Service

As a new MBA student, it is important that you become familiar with Web Self Service and the Ramapo Intranet. Log into your account by clicking on the red tile that says “Web Self Service” by using the email and password you just activated. By logging into “Web Self-Service”, you will be able to register for classes, check the balance on your account, print degree evaluations, update your personal information, pay your bill, and more.

Avoid a Hold on Your Account - Immunization/Alert-Me-Now

Avoid a hold on your account, that will keep you from registering for classes, by

  1. Completing your Immunization form. Read complete information here. Download the Immunization Form.
  2. Signing Up for “Alert Me Now” Emergency Notification System. You can do this by signing into Web Self-Service, and clicking on Sign Up / Update Alert-Me-Now Information.
Financial Aid Information

Graduate students are not eligible for Federal or State grant programs.  However, graduate students may borrow up to $20,500 annually under the Federal Direct Stafford Loan programs.

Students may also obtain loans from various private loan programs.  Students can compare several Alternative Lenders through the Elm Select website, a neutral lender and product comparison tool.

To apply for aid at Ramapo, students pursuing a graduate degree should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA and submit by March 1. No other application forms are required.   By complying with this priority deadline, graduate students will be prepared to contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss loan eligibility and borrowing options well in advance of the tuition payment deadlines.

By signing the Student Refund Waiver Form, you agree that any remaining funds from your loan disbursement, be carried over and applied to the next term’s tuition. If you do not complete this form, you will receive a refund check in the mail.

MBA Prep Module Information

Your first step towards success in the program is completing the required online foundational prep modules.  The modules ensure that every student has the same base-level knowledge in the core business disciplines.  For some students the exercise will be a refresher, and for others it may be the first time you are being exposed to the subject matter.  Regardless of your background, the modules are designed for your benefit.

Accepted students must successfully test out, by completing the assessment testor complete each module before enrolling in the designated class.

When Ramapo receives your Intent to Enroll form, you are registered, by the MBA Program Coordinator, to complete the modules. Login instructions will then be delivered to your Ramapo email, from Ivy Software.

Testing Out/Assessment Tests

Students with previous exposure to accounting, finance, and statistics may feel that they already have the base-level knowledge needed to be successful in the program.  In that case, you may take the assessment tests.  If you receive an 80% or better on the assessment tests, you do not have to complete the module. 

**Interactive Business Writing is not available for test out, and needs to be completed by each student.

On-Campus Resources
  • The Center for Reading and Writing offers one-on-one, face-to-face consulting sessions in writing, reading, and study skills.  Whether you want to improve your reading, learn strategies for strengthening your writing, or brush up on study skills, we have the people and the resources to help you. Visit their website for more information:
  • Visit the George T. Potter Library website to search databases, find a book, or chat online with a library staff member.
  • Workout for free! As an MBA student at Ramapo, you get free access to the athletic facilities located in the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center; including a rock climbing wall, swimming pool, fitness center complete with weight-lifting equipment, treadmills, spinning bikes, etc. For more information about what’s available to you, visit www.ramapoathletics.com!
  • Hungry? Visit the Atrium, in the Student Center, for a quick grab-n-go option before class or during your break. You can also hit the C-Store in the Pavilion on your way to class for a quick snack!
  • Need to print something? There is a printer located in the trading lab, ASB 527. There are also printers in ASB 219. For a complete list of on-campus computer labs and printers, click here.
  • The Cahill Career Development Center, located in ASB 513 provides a number of career services to MBA students. See a sample list below.

Parking

Beginning in Fall 2017, MBA students will be charged a parking fee consistent with the requirements of other graduate programs. The amount is $213.76 per academic year (which includes Fall/Winter/Spring; $108.66 in the Summer term) and will be charged directly to your account. You will also be required to display a parking pass on your dashboard. Please see Erin Hallock if you need a copy of the parking pass. If you commute to campus via car pool or public transportation, you can request a waiver by going to Web Self Service > Student Services and Financial Aid > Surveys, Waivers, Ballots.

Your Ramapo ID will be coded for access to the front gate, allowing you to bypass the security booth.

You can read more information about parking here. Please note, you do NOT need to apply for a parking decal. The distributed dash pass will serve as your parking decal.
