Designing Yourself? Tips & Tricks

Photography

Adding photos or graphics is a great way to draw the viewer in! That being said, do not download photos/graphics from online websites (Google, etc.), if you do use online sites for photos and graphics make sure it’s royalty free. Feel free to use photos from our Ramapo College Flickr account.

Colors

Digital Designs: use RGB

Print Designs: use CMYK

Refer to the style guide for the Ramapo College color breakdowns.

Print Dimensions

Large Format Posters 24″ x 36″ // Regular Poster 11″ x 17″ // Flyer 8.5″ x 11″

Tip: When designing, if you put text too close to the edge of the poster/flyer, it can get cut off when printed – try to give yourself a .5″ border on 11″ x 17″ and 8.5″ x 11″ and a 1″ border on 24″ x 36″.

Digital Dimensions

Instagram Story: 1080 x 1920 pixels (Please leave 200 pixels at the top and bottom free of text or the important part of the image, some older phones will cut off the top and bottom of the graphic, you can still put color and/or a design in that space and not leave it blank).

Instagram Feed: 1080 x 1080 pixels

Facebook Feed: 940 x 788 pixels

Twitter Feed: 1024 x 512 pixels

Archway Event Photo: 640 x 350 pixels
