Faculty Assembly Meeting Minutes

Faculty Assembly is open to a general college audience, including administrators, but only FA members may vote. Faculty, including library faculty and all full-time employees contractually obligated to teach are FA members as defined by our bylaws.

Faculty Assembly President’s Report (slides)

College President’s Report:

  • Expression of gratitude to the faculty for their work
  • Best wishes to Aaron Lorenz as he leaves the college
  • Updates on administrative restructuring outlined in the President’s recent email
  • Presidential AI task force will be charged next Monday
  • Thank you to faculty working on the HSI report, which was presented to the president last week
  • Looking forward to the continued advancement of the CAP

Provost’s Report:

  • Thank you for faculty’s support and well-wishes during his recovery
  • Discussion of the progress of the CAP
    • Faculty should continue having conversations as we move forward with the CAP, and the Provost is open to such conversations
    • Expressed intent for the CAP process to be transparent, and to follow the process outlined by the Provost several years ago.
    • Goal for each school to develop bylaws to determine how conveners and lead conveners are chosen
    • Extended Q & A session between the Provost and faculty

Announcements:

  • HSI Exploratory Task Force Update
    Dolly Sacristan, Faculty Rep

    • Conducted literature review on the needs of Latino students
    • Plan is for work in the HSI task force to act as a framework to help all students
  • ITS Updates (slides)
    Rob Doster, CIO

    • WebEx is going away on Jan. 31 – moving to Microsoft Teams, although Google Meetings will still be available
    • GoTo is replacing Cisco as our phone system in February – for most users this process will be invisible
    • Microsoft Entra implementation
    • Ellucian Experience will replace Web Self-Service, to be completed by February 2026
