Graduate Programs Commencement Student Speaker

At the Graduate Programs Commencement ceremony on May 17, a student representative from the Graduate Programs Class of 2018 will give greetings and a short address to those gathered for the occasion.  You are invited to apply to be that representative provided you have graduated in January 2018 or have a graduation application on file for May 2018 or August 2018.

If you are eligible and interested in delivering this address, please do the following:

  1. Prepare a detailed address to last no more than three minutes.  This address should extend greetings to the audience and contain remarks which are relevant to the occasion and of interest to a wide audience.  Additional tips of what to include can be found in the Graduate Programs Commencement Speaker Letter below.  You must submit the entire text of the speech.
  2. The only place your name should be written is on the Graduate Programs Commencement Speech Proposal Data Form (found below).  The speech itself should NOT have your name on it.  Speeches should be stapled to the Data Form.  Any speech with a name on it will NOT be considered.
  3. Complete the Data Form (found below).
  4. Please hand deliver or mail the draft of your speech, the Data Form, and an audio recording* of you giving the speech as you would at Commencement to Marie Ciampi in an envelope.  The envelope should be addressed as follows: Marie Ciampi, Office of the President, M-215, Ramapo College of New Jersey, 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ 07430.

The above materials must be received by Marie Ciampi no later than March 9, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.

*Please note:  If you do not have access to the technology required to make an audio recording of your speech, please contact Marie at at your earliest convenience (at least 48 hours before the submission deadline) so those accommodations can be made.
