Civic Engagement Week 2024

Come and join the Civic and Community Engagement Center as we celebrate Civic Engagement Week! From Monday, April 15th to Friday, April 19th, we will be hosting a variety of programming, from fun and interactive simulations to service trips, that are open to all.

Monday, April 15th

1:00 p.m. – SNAP Lunch and Learn – SC-156

Kick off Civic Engagement week by joining us for a SNAP Lunch and Learn! Get answers to your questions, connect with others, and discover how SNAP benefits can support you

Tuesday, April 16th

1:00 p.m. – 60th Anniversary of Freedom Summer Installation – Alumni Lounges

Continue Civic Engagement with the CCEC at the 60th Anniversary of Freedom Summer Installation. Come learn about Freedom Summer and its lasting impacts while enjoying provided refreshments

Wednesday, April 17th

5:00 p.m. –Advocacy and Action – SC-213

The Civic & Community Engagement Center will be running a roundtable discussion on the difficulties of protesting and getting involved with advocacy work as a student. Come down to SC-213 to discuss while enjoying the provided snacks/food.

Thursday, April 18th

12:15 pm — Service Opportunity: Computer Literacy at the Mahwah Senior Center – Off Campus

Students will have the opportunity to tutor Senior Citizens at the Mahwah Senior Center on how to use their electronic devices. This could include teaching these community members how to clear their email, open and navigate programs or applications, or other similar tasks. Extensive computer knowledge is not required.

ALL IN New Jersey Vote Summit –1:00 – 4:00 pm, Location: Virtual 

To support NJ campuses with engaging their communities during the 2024 election year, ALL IN is teaming up with campus leaders at The College of New Jersey, Princeton University, Rutgers University – Camden, Ramapo College and Raritan Valley Community College to offer an afternoon of learning, networking and sharing in regards to nonpartisan engagement. This event is open to all New Jersey campuses and stakeholders and will provide an overview of New Jersey voting how-tos and interactive breakout sessions related to civic engagement at-large.
