Message from the Dean Susan Hangen, Ph.D.
School of Human and Global Studies

Susan HangenGreetings G.O.L.D. – “Graduates  Of the Last Decade”!  We are eager to stay in touch with you and hear more about your lives after graduation.  Please reach out and share your career stories with us! There are a variety of ways for you to stay involved with HGS and help current students find their path in the world.

I am the new Dean of HGS as of July 1, 2017.  If you took Anthropology or International Studies courses during your time at Ramapo, you may have been in one of my classes,  as I was a professor here for 15 years before becoming the Dean.

There are exciting new developments in HGS . The new Topken World Languages Lab has opened in February 2018 and enhance language learning for students. Later this year, we anticipate launching a Philosophy major and a Certificate in Spanish for Health Care and Human Services. I hope you are able to come back to campus and see the vibrant learning community that continues to flourish here.

The academic programs we offer in HGS provide great opportunities for undergraduates. The value of our academic programs shines through in the post-graduation achievements of you, our alumni.

If you’re not already a G.O.L.D. member, please take a few moments to register using the form below:

Welcome Ramapo Alumni G.O.L.D. from the Cahill Career Center

Exciting changes are underway at Ramapo College’s Career Center!

In January, the Cahill Career Center transitioned from the Archway to a new career management platform called Handshake. Handshake is used by over 475 career centers nationwide including Stanford, Princeton, Brown and Berkeley.

Handshake gives Ramapo students and alumni access to a powerful network of national employers in addition to our established employer partners. In the 3 months since we introduced Handshake, the number of job postings – full-time, part-time and internships – increased by 134% from the same time period last year.

Alumni are welcome to join Handshake using their Ramapo College email address at the following link — ramapo.joinhandshake.com

Giving at Ramapo

Every single GOLD alumni makes a difference in the Ramapo community. Here’s why your support is essential:

  • Leadership: Your participation identifies you as a leader amongst your peers – and greater alumni participation increases value to your degree.
  • Philanthropy: With a gift to the College, you play a vital role in ensuring that current and future students have the same opportunities you did.
  • Commitment: Your annual support allows the College to continue to provide much needed scholarships and faculty research grants and maintain its role as a leading institution.

What size gift should I make?

Every single gift counts, regardless of the size. To start, make a gift in honor of your class year ($20.17 = Class of 2017)

If you work for a company that matches charitable gifts, you may be able to double or even triple the impact of your gift…at no cost to you! See if your company will match your gift by visiting: www.ramapo.edu/match.
