Post Testing Information

Congratulations on finishing your placement testing! Now that you have your results, what do they mean?

Placement for Critical Reading and Writing (CRWT) Essay/Reading test

This score is a combination of your Essay & Reading tests.  You can find the grid that shows placement here: Reading/Essay: Placement Information – Testing Center || Ramapo College of New Jersey .  Use the drop down for “Course placement determined by ACCUPLACER Reading/Essay”

CRWT-101: This course is the first course in the progression for students.  It will help build foundational skills to be successful in college level reading/writing.  This is a credit bearing course.

CRWT-101 “S”:  A course with an “S” means in that particular course you will receive extra help.  Students will have 1 additional class meeting per week to support work in done in other class sessions.  Think of it as a weekly tutoring session to ensure your success.

CRWT-102: This is the course required to meet the General Education – Critical Reading & Writing requirement.

Placement for Math (non Calculus) test

MATH-022:  This course is a transitional math for students to prepare for a college-level course.  It is a non credit bearing course and once complete you will move on to the 100 level college course appropriate for your major.

MATH-101/104/106/108 or PHIL106:  These are the college level math courses, and you will take a course meet your General Education and/or Major math requirement.

Placement for Calculus test (if required for major)

MATH-024: This course is a transitional math on the Calculus math track to prepare for Pre-Calculus. It is a non credit bearing course and once complete you will move to MATH110 Precalculus.

MATH-110/121/122/237: These are college level math courses in the Calculus track.

So now what do I do?

You have options.  All testing does is indicate your starting point, there is no failing, only your starting place for college success.  Here is what you can do:

    • Enjoy summer, and take the courses above during the school year.  (Your advisor will do this for you)
    • Take a summer class at either Ramapo College or your local Community College.
