Don Maddi Endowed Scholarship

The Maddi Endowed Scholarship was established by Don Maddi, a member of the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors. Mr. Maddi is retired from C.R. Bard, a provider of medical products and services, where he served as vice president for Compensation and Benefits. The purpose of the Maddi Award is to recognize deserving students in the Anisfield School of Business.

2025 Recipient

Leah Varela

Leah Varela of Ridgefield Park, N.J. is a Business Management 4+1 major. She has a 3.9 GPA, and she has made it on to the Dean’s List during her first semester at Ramapo College.

At Ramapo, she has been a member of programs such as Leader’s in Service, Legacies in the Making, and ALMA.

Leah has also been involved off-campus as she works part-time in retail and previously worked as a summer camp counselor for her hometown. Even though she is a first-year student at Ramapo, she received her associates degree while in high school.

While at Ramapo, Leah hopes to continue to build meaningful connections, make a difference, and pave the way for her future endeavors.


2020 Recipient

Thomas Joseph Howley

Thomas Joseph Howley of Freehold, N.J. is a Psychology major and Music minor. He has a 3.3 GPA and has been a member of the Dean’s list four times throughout his college career. At Ramapo, Thomas takes part in an intermediate performance ensemble and open mic nights.

Thomas also volunteers at Bergen Center for Child Development, where he assists many disabled children. He has previously worked part-time retail positions and currently works hard to promote the success of his band “Jovial Moonrise.”

“After graduation I plan to further my education and become a licensed family counselor/relationship therapist.”
