Koskinen, Lindsay and Eric Black Lives Matter Endowed Scholarship

Lindsay Koskinen, Ph.D. is a psychotherapist and adjunct faculty member at Ramapo College. She and her husband Eric have volunteered in Paterson, N.J. in a variety of ways since the 1980’s. The purpose of their scholarship is to provide funding to Black students who have graduated from a New Jersey inner city high school, and have gone on to be successful college students.

Yvette Tannor

Yvette Tannor of Newark, N.J. is a junior Nursing major with a 3.66 GPA and has received the Dean’s List honor on many occasions.

At Ramapo, Yvette is an active member of the EOF program and Nursing Student Organization. She was previously an EOF Success Mentor and is currently becoming a home health aide. Yvette has also been involved in off–campus activities, including a previous job at Macy’s.

After graduation, Yvette would like to serve as a Pediatric Nurse.

Trisha Naawu

Trisha Naawu of East Orange, N.J. is a Political Science major with a minor in French.
She has a 3.3 GPA and is an EOF scholar. She has made Dean’s List and hopes to keep it up.

At Ramapo, she is active the Debate Club, the Black Student Union, and Students of Caribbean Ancestry(SOCA). She is also an Upward Bound tutor/counselor for high school students.

“My hope is to work as a legislative aid or teach high school history in the future.”

Tyra Asberry

“My goal is to decrease mental illness in the prison system and void the cycle between poverty, mental illness, and retributive justice,” says Tyra Asberry of Newark, N.J. Tyra is a senior Psychology major with a minor in Crime and Justice Studies. She has a 3.5 cumulative GPA and has made the Dean’s List multiple times.

Tyra is on the e-board for the Black Student Union. She is also a part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. After her freshman year, she interned at Newark Municipal Court twice to begin her career journey. Her other interests are reading and mentoring.

Tyra Asberry

“My goal is to decrease mental illness in the prison system and void the cycle between poverty, mental illness, and retributive justice. I feel that if I can help troubled convicts from unfortunate backgrounds and decrease potential recidivism then I will make the world a better place to live in,” says junior Psychology major Tyra Asberry. She has a minor in Crime and Justice Studies.

She is a part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Societies and has held over a 3.5 cumulative GPA for two consecutive semesters. She has been awarded Dean List for Fall 2017, Fall 2018, and Spring 2019 semesters. After only one year at Ramapo she interned at Newark Municipal Court to begin her career journey. Her interests are reading and mentoring.

Janay Davidson

Janay Davidson of East Orange, N.J. is a Law and Society major with a 3.1 GPA.  She has been an active member of the Student Leaders Council, is one of two students to ever be hired as a freshman Peer Adviser at the Center for Student Success, and has been the publicist and current president of Black Student Union.

Janay has volunteered at the East Orange Family Success Center since high school and was invited to give the youth of East Orange a voice by becoming a member of their Youth Board.  She has also has interned directly under the East Orange Corporate Council for two summers. Upon degree completion, she plans to attend Law School in order to become a Family Law attorney.
