Jessica Sanchez

Jessica Sanchez

Jessica Sanchez is a first-year Political Science major from Passaic, N.J. She holds extensive pride in her hometown and hopes to work in local government one day. In high school, she actively participated in Student Council, and was able to work with members of the Board of Education in her hometown to help change school policy.

In her first semester at Ramapo, she has become a Senator-at-Large for the Student Government Association, serving as a Liaison to the Women’s Center and serving on the Diversity Committee. She is the current Secretary for the Association of Latinos Moving Ahead and volunteers at the Women’s Center. She is also in the Educational Opportunity Fund program and is immensely grateful for the support and motivation it has given her.

“I’m so grateful for my family for inspiring me to keep working hard. My goal is to continue making them, as well as Passaic, proud.”

Garber, Jackie and Paul Scholarship

Jackie Fain Garber graduated from Ramapo College in 1975 and became a kindergarten and Montessori teacher. In 2001 she and her husband Paul decided to start an annual scholarship to recognize good students with financial need who may need a little help in paying their college costs. “I’ve gotten so much from my Ramapo education,” Jackie said at the time, “I would like to give back.” Students who receive the Garber Scholarships can be studying any discipline, but must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing.  Sadly, Mr. Garber died in March, 2014.

Peer Facilitation First-Year Student Scholarship

This scholarship is only for first-year students enrolled in an FYS course.

The Peer Facilitation Program aims to help first-year students transition to the Ramapo College community. In addition to being one of the first resources introduced to first-year students, the Peer Facilitators spend the entire first semester with their designated class teaching them about the ins and outs of college life. The Peer Facilitation program seeks to recognize two first-year students who demonstrate campus engagement and have exemplified the values of Ramapo within their first semester. International students are welcome to apply.
