FYS Class:

Class of: 2025

Major/Minor: Social Work

Resident/Commuter: Resident

Favorite Class: My favorite class at the moment is Social Science inquiry, I have an incredible professor and the topics discussed are very interesting, I’ve learnt quite a lot over the past few weeks. I am a talker, I appreciate a class that allows students to be involved in the lesson rather than being lectured for the entire class period and this class definitely encourages healthy discourse and appreciates student opinions.

Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus would be the gym, I know my answer seems a bit strange however I have found the gym to be one of the most peaceful environments for me since living on campus. Each time head to the gym I feel refreshed, and my mood completely improves.

Clubs/organizations: Students of Caribbean Ancestry (SOCA) Office of violence Prevention (OVP) Educational opportunity Fund (EOF) Black Student Union (BSU)

Future Plans: During my Junior year I woke love the opportunity to study abroad in Europe, post graduation I would like to further my studies and get my masters degree in medical social work.

Favorite Inspirational Quote: “If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”

Advice for First-Year Students: One piece of advice that I would leave the first year students with is College is definitely what you make it!! Always stay focused on your “why”– your motivation for pursuing your degree and keep your eyes on the prize. Furthermore your social life is just as important as academics! have fun, join clubs and organizations, step out of your comfort zone and create your college experience!
