MAHWAH, N.J. – The votes are in! The Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College has been named by readers of Bergen Magazine as being among Bergen County’s top theater venues. The complete list will be published in the magazine’s September issue.

“For almost twenty-three years, the Berrie Center has proudly served Bergen County and the residents of northern New Jersey,” said Lisa Campbell, Director of the Berrie Center. “We love seeing our neighbors and friends at our performances and appreciate their support through the years.”

The Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts opened in 1999. The Center houses The Sharp Theater, a 338-seat proscenium theater; The Myron and Elaine Adler Theater, a black box theater and The Kresge and Pascal Art Galleries. The Berrie Center has developed a rich series of public programming including dance, theater, concerts, and contemporary art exhibitions. In addition, the Berrie Center is home to the Ramapo College School of Contemporary Arts with specialized facilities for photography, dance, music and theater production.

In its 23-year history, the Berrie Center has brought to the stage some of the most renowned performers, including Jarrod Spector, Tony-nominated actor and singer; John Pizzarelli, jazz guitarist; Paula Poundstone, stand-up comedian, New York-based Paul Taylor Dance Company, musician Eileen Ivers, and singers Judy Collins and Leon Redbone, among many others.

In addition, Ramapo College students have presented a wide range of musical and stage performances in the theaters of the Berrie Center, which also hosts the annual Les Paul Festival that recognizes the contributions of longtime College supporter guitar virtuoso Les Paul.
