Special Guest Speaker: Philippe Sands, Noted International Jurist and Writer

[York Room] On March 29th at 7 p.m. in the York Room of the Birch Mansion, the Gross Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies invite all to a lecture by Philippe Sands, Professor of Law, University College London and an international human rights lawyer. He will speak about his recently published and acclaimed book, EAST WEST STREET: On the Origins of the “Genocide” and “Crimes Against Humanity.” It tells of how two men, Hersch Lauterpacht and Raphael Lemkin, born within three years of each other in eastern reaches of Austrian Poland, independently of each other proposed different legal remedies to the scourge of mass killing.
