Faculty Assembly is open to a general college audience, including administrators, but only FA members may vote. Faculty, including library faculty and all full-time employees contractually obligated to teach are FA members as defined by our bylaws.

Introduction of new faculty members by the Deans.

Faculty Assembly President’s Report (slides)

College President’s Report:

  • Remembrance of Ramapo student Nick Danbrowney
  • Good news on state funding, including deferred maintenance funds
  • NJASCU retreat over the summer, President Jebb met with state legislators and each gubernatorial candidate
  • Ramapo has a student interview for a Rhodes scholarship
  • Student retention is up by 5% compared to last year
  • Launching a campaign feasibility study
  • Reiteration of priorities for this year:
    • Implementation of CAP
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Student well-being
    • Talent management and strategic partnerships
  • Introduction of Dr. Robert Heinrich (Stockton), who is shadowing President Jebb this academic year as part of the ACE Fellowship program

Provost’s Report:

  • Mike Unger is joining the Provost’s Office full-time for two years as Acting Assistant Provost for Assessment and Accreditation.
  • Faculty should prepare for change this coming AY. Conclusions and recommendations of CAP-related task forces will guide changes moving forward

Announcements:

  • Enrollment Update
    Chris Romano, VP for Strategic Enrollment, Outreach and Engagement

    • Discussion of headwinds facing enrollment. Noted that files are not yet frozen, and so today’s numbers are approximate.
    • Up 11% in applications (9900 apps) for Fall 2025
    • New class enrollment is 1108, although de-registration has yet to occur (likely causing this number to drop a bit).
    • 5% increase in enrollment (headcount) compared to last year, which means that retention is trending upwards
    • 135 incoming EOF students (almost double compared to two years ago, and largest class ever like last year)
    • 47% of incoming class are first generation students
    • Final report will be shared on October 15 when files are frozen
    • Ramapo is on track to exceed enrollment percentages to qualify as an HSI (will be confirmed after frozen file).

Presentations/Discussion Items:

  • Gen Ed Revision Progress Report
    Chris Reali, GECCo Chair

    • GECCo members met in June to create a framework for what a new Gen Ed program could look like, generated 6 possible models
    • Planning Faculty Forum or Town Hall to collect feedback
    • Report on current Gen Ed experience for students
    • GECCo is not taking any new course submissions this year

Formal meeting adjourned at 2:00 pm. Followed by Faculty Forum dedicated to roundtable discussions of the recommendations of the Liberal Arts Curriculum Task Force.
