Watershed Improvement Plan

Our Campus and Local Drinking Water

This stream is located in the woods behind the Village apartments.  It is a tributary of the Darlington Brook.  The Darlington Brook is a sub-watershed within the larger Ramapo River watershed, which serves as a major source of drinking water for northern New Jersey.

The Watershed Improvement Plan (WIP)
Purpose

The purpose of the Watershed Improvement Plan (WIP) is to identify opportunities to improve water quality, reduce stormwater contribution of pollutants to waterbodies with impairments and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDLs), and to address stormwater flooding to protect human health and safety, and the environment.

Phases of the Watershed Improvement Plan

Ramapo College will complete a comprehensive WIP in three phases as listed below.

  • Phase 1-Watershed Inventory Report, completed December 2025
  • Phase 2-Watershed Assessment Report
  • Phase 3-Watershed Improvement Plan Report
