Watershed Improvement Plan

How Our Campus Impacts Local Drinking Water

The stream below is located in the woods behind the Village apartments.  This stream feeds into the Darlington Brook.  The Darlington Brook is a sub-watershed within the larger Ramapo River watershed, which serves as a major source of drinking water for northern New Jersey.

Purpose of Watershed Improvement Plan (WIP)

The purpose of the Watershed Improvement Plan (WIP) is to identify opportunities to improve water quality, reduce stormwater contribution of pollutants to waterbodies with impairments and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDLs), and to address stormwater flooding to protect human health and safety, and the environment.  Ramapo College will complete a comprehensive WIP in three phases as listed below.

  • Watershed Inventory Report (report will be available early 2026)
  • Watershed Assessment Report (report will be available early 2027)
  • Watershed Improvement Plan Report (report will be available early 2028)

This information will be updated as it’s completed.  Check back often.
