Dr. Michael A. Pino (Pronouns: he/him/his) holds a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College, CUNY. He went on to receive his Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Rutgers University (RU), where he also received his Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from RU.
Dr. Pino is a NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with over 10 years of experience working in College Counseling Services. He was a Transfer student counselor at the John Jay College counseling center. Completed one of his MSW internships with Rutgers Counseling, ADAP, and Psychiatry Services (CAPS). He has also interned and worked at Veterans Affairs and was an Assistant Director for a substance use treatment center. He also worked as a Clinical Social Worker at RU CAPS before becoming the Associate Director for Counseling Services at Ramapo College in 2025.
Dr. Pinos’s clinical expertise includes utilizing evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, RO-DBT, and EXRP. He has specialized in treating college students and those using substances. His professional interests include substance use treatment in college mental health, and his doctoral work looked at treating problematic cannabis use in a college counseling setting.
