Paul Rosolie ’11 speaking at the Environmental Studies Reunion.
“Ramapo College is well on its way to being one of the more sustainable colleges in New Jersey. The environmental studies program is alive, well, and growing,” Environmental Studies professor, Dr. Ashwani Vasinth commended.
On March 7, 2015, Environmental Studies professors Dr. Michael Edelstein and Dr. Ashwani Vasinth led the second annual Environmental Studies Reunion in Friends Hall. The professors explained that the reunion is a great place for students to meet alumni and for alumni to build a network within the environmental studies department.
At the reunion, students and alumni learned how the campus is becoming more sustainable and had the opportunity to meet featured guest speaker, Paul Rosolie ‘11 (Environmental Studies), author of Mother of God (2014 Harper).
At the reunion, Rosolie discussed his extensive research and experiences studying endangered species and habitat in the Peruvian Amazon. Rosolie also runs Tamadua, an ecotourism business based in the Amazon which will include several new ecologically important global destinations in the near future.
Dr. Vasinth further explained, “The environmental studies department is an active community. It’s a symbiotic relationship between alumni, students, and faculty. The key to success is collaboration. Through collaboration we can improve sustainability on campus and in the community.”
