About Us

Who We Are

Our Mission

Using a feminist approach to education, advocacy, wellness, and belonging, the Women’s Center & LGBTQ+ Services at Ramapo College of New Jersey works to build a welcoming community that supports all members of campus while centering women and LGBTQ+ students.

Our Feminism

We advocate feminism that challenges patriarchy and sexism as they interlock with other systems of oppression, including heterosexism, cissexism, gender binarism, racism, classism, ableism, and ageism.

We believe that a feminist community should intentionally place women and LGBTQ+ people — especially those who are marginalized by multiple oppressive systems — at its heart.

At the same time, we hold to bell hooks’s wisdom that “feminism is for everybody.” Therefore, we strive to foster a community that embraces people of all genders and sexualities who share our mission.

Our Space

The Women’s Center & LGBTQ+ Services affirms that people of all genders and sexualities deserve the right to bodily autonomy, respect, and safety. With our lounge (Room C-220), we seek to cultivate a safer space rooted in practices of vulnerability, authenticity, and care — a space where all students, especially those who are multiply marginalized, feel comfortable and empowered to be their whole selves.
