Mandie Mayer

Ramapo Success Story

“In a few short years, Ramapo has given me opportunities that I never thought were possible. From studying abroad in Argentina to participating in an Alternative Spring Break in Costa Rica, I’ve broadened my horizons in more ways than one. With the help of the wonderful and intelligent professors of HGS, I’ve strengthened my passion for International Studies and added two minors along the way. Ramapo College is truly one of the best choices I’ve ever made!

I volunteered with Grupo Cajolá in Guatemala for four weeks in the summer of 2018. Another Ramapo student (Krystina Jeron) and I were teaching English, computer skills, and working in an aftercare program for elementary schoolers. We lived with a local host family as well. I found out about the organization from Dr. Root who directs the honors program at Ramapo. I’m already planning my next trip back!” –  Mandie Mayer ’19 graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in International Studies and a Spanish and Creative Writing double-minor. She has been a Deans’ List recipient since fall 2015. At Ramapo, Mandie served in leadership roles as a Peer Facilitator and in Alpha Omicron Pi (Secretary and Activities Chair Spring 2017) and Sigma Iota Rho Honors Society (President).
