Marlene Salvador

ISA – American University of Rome – Rome, Italy (summer 2012)

Ciao! My name is Marlene Salvador. I am currently a senior, majoring in International Business, and minoring in Accounting. I have always dreamed of studying abroad and travelling to different parts of the world. I finally accomplished this in the Summer of 2012 when I studied at the American University of Rome in Roma, Italia! It was the first time I travelled outside of the U.S. alone, and I was so nervous. But, it soon became the best experience of my life. I took a Marketing class, where we got to travel to different businesses in Milan, along with a European History class, both of which I enjoyed very much. It only took those short four weeks to learn so much about Italy’s culture and heritage, and I also gained knowledge about myself while I was there. I became so much more independent, and gained friendships that will stay with me for a lifetime. I want to encourage anyone I can to study abroad, so that they can gain their own experiences with this life-changing event. Studying abroad is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I intend to continue my dreams of travelling, while helping others pursue theirs as well.
