Ramapo College has been offering educational experiences to India  since 2002. Currently, we are offering the following program opportunities:

Academic Program

Engaging with Cultures & Education in Northern India

2 Credits, 10 days

The program is designed to provide students of many disciplines the opportunity to participate in this program. All students will enroll in INTL 130: Global Field Experience, India: Engaging with Cultures & Education in Northern India.

Course Description:

In this unique program, students will visit major historical and cultural sites of Northern India (including the Taj Mahal), gaining insights into the diversity of peoples within the region. Program participants will explore the various issues facing contemporary society and their creative solutions to overcoming them.

INTL 130 Global Field Experience – INDIA (Draft Syllabus)

Field Excursions

The program will include the following field excursions, to both complement the academic course, as well as provide insights into the culture and context of northern India, and the region:

• Tour of Historic & New Delhi
• Service Project focusing with youth and families
• Visit a local university and primary school
• Visit the Taj Mahal, Itmad-ud-Daulah & Agra Fort
• Tour the magical city of Fatehpur Sikri – one of the best preserved collections of Indian Mughal architecture
• Experience Jaipur, it’s City Palace, Hawa Mahal
• Tour of Amer Fort
• Learn to make blue pottery handicrafts

Accommodations

Students will reside in centrally-located hotels. All breakfasts are included, as well as some additional meals.
