Study & Intern Abroad

Danielle Isenberg

ISA – Universidad de Menendez Pelayo – Sevilla, Spain (summer 2014)

Hola! My name is Danielle Isenberg, and I’m a senior at Ramapo College. I am majoring in biology and I am a member of the RCNJ softball team.  During the summer of 2014 I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain.  I studied at the Universidad de Menendez Pelayo. When looking at different study abroad programs, I felt that ISA had the most excursions, and the most reasonable price for my abroad experience.  I spent six incredible weeks studying Spanish in Sevilla and I truly believe that studying abroad opened my eyes to a new perspective of the world. Traveling overseas without my parents allowed me to gain a sense of independence and responsibility.  Living in a country in which I was not fluent in the native language, might have been scary to most people but it intrigued me in a way most people cannot understand, unless they also experience it.  While abroad, I lived with a homestay (host) family and now I have a place in Spain I call my second home.  I wouldn’t have wanted any other housing arrangement as it was the perfect fit for me. In addition to witnessing the beauty of Sevilla, I was able to visit  other Spanish cities, Italy, Portugal, and Morocco. I will never forget my memories of this amazing experience and I will always cherish the bonds that I made with the people  with whom I crossed paths on this adventure. I became a Global Roadrunner to share my experiences with other Ramapo students and encourage them to find themselves around the world!
