Sandra Martin was a life-long teacher, passionate about languages and the arts. She taught Spanish in the Ramsey, NJ school district for thirty years. Her students respectfully called her Señora Martín. She brought her classes to Spain and Mexico to visit culturally rich cities, climb pyramids, and experience arts through public murals and museums. Her greatest passion was integrating the study of the Spanish language with the arts and culture of its speakers in Spain and the Americas.
After retiring, Señora Martín found a new home at Ramapo College where she was active as an adjunct professor for 18 years until her death in 2023. At Ramapo College she taught 46 courses and took 46 classes. She was curious and studious until the end.
This scholarship was created to honor the life of Señora Martín and to give opportunities to Ramapo students to help support their pursuits with studies in languages and/or the arts.
