Vijay and Asha Dalal are the Trustees of the Asha-Vijay Foundation, located in Ramsey, N.J.  The foundation has supported charitable organizations, including institutions of higher learning for more than 15 years.  In 2015  the foundation created a scholarship program at Ramapo College known as the “Hope and Victory Scholarship.”  The motivation in creating this award is to reduce the amount of debt students face upon graduation, and to foster a commitment among young people for community service and volunteerism.

Students are required to write an essay describing a volunteer experience they have had and how that experience has affected their desire to continue in civic engagement.

Criteria
• Freshman with a high school GPA of 3.0
• Demonstrated financial need
• Active participation as a volunteer
• Be of Asian descent/India preferred
• Be from Bergen County/Ramsey/Mahwah preferred
