Wireless

Important Announcement for Residents

Ramapo no longer requires the use of personal wireless access points in the residence halls as wireless access is already available for use. Personal wireless access points or routers present a source of interference and can cause intermittent wireless access issues. Therefore, wireless access points or routers are not to be used on campus. Users who attempt to use a wireless access point or router may have their Internet connection suspended.

Ramapo provides wireless access campus-wide, including academic buildings and residence halls. Wireless access is available to faculty, staff, students, guests, and alumni.

While on campus, users will be able to connect to one of the following wireless networks:

Ramapo-Open

This is an open wireless network which is available to guests and alumni only. It provides basic Internet access with no encryption. Guests and alumni must have a username and password to gain access. Once connected, users must launch a web browser which will allow them to input their user credentials to gain access. Upon successful authentication, a user’s session is valid for 8 hours. At the end of the user’s session, they will be asked to re-authenticate.

Ramapo-Secure

This is a secured wireless network which is available to faculty, staff, and students only. It provides Internet access as well as access to college specific resources with the highest level of encryption available using 802.1x authentication. Upon connection, a user will be prompted to input their user credentials to gain access. Upon successful authentication, a user’s session will last indefinitely. Which means a user will not have to sign in every time to the wireless network. For instructions connecting each device to Ramapo-Secure, click on the button below.

Ramapo-MultimediaDevices
