The Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the College’s Policy/Procedure 476: Memorial. As a result, Remembrance Day will now honor those who passed away in the preceding fiscal year, July 1 – June 30. Formerly, this event honored those who passed away in the previous calendar year.
The 2018 Remembrance Day ceremony was held on April 25 and honored those who passed away in 2017. The next Remembrance Day ceremony will be held in the fall of 2019 and will honor both those who passed away in the second half of FY18 (January – June 2018) as well as FY19 (July 2018 – June 2019). Honorees at ceremonies thereafter will remain on the fiscal year schedule.
Remembrance Day is an annual event established by the Ramapo College of New Jersey Board of Trustees in 2005 to “memorialize the death of members of the campus community and outside individuals who have significantly contributed to the institution and to the campus community.” The event provides an opportunity to pause, remember and celebrate the contributions and lives of those whose memories continue to make Ramapo College a special community. Family members, friends, and members of the community are invited to attend this ceremony which includes a memorial plaque at a planting site.
