Ramapo College Named “College of Distinction” for 2023-2024

August 3, 2023

Ramapo College is a tight-knit community where students are challenged to lead boldly, think critically, and make history. Our exemplary commitment to engaging students, impactful teaching, a vibrant community, and successful outcomes are just four of the reasons why Colleges of Distinction has once again named Ramapo a 2023-2024 College of Distinction.

Overall, Ramapo earned six distinctions, the highest number awarded to a New Jersey institution. Included in the list are distinctions for:

What exactly is a College of Distinction? It’s a nationally recognized exceptional school, as acknowledged by education experts. These colleges are known for the quality of their programs, evaluated by accreditors and higher education experts. At Ramapo, teaching undergraduates is a top priority. Students are taught by real professors, not graduate students or teaching assistants. Faculty are engaging, and they make an effort to know their students personally. It is not uncommon for students to say that at Ramapo, you are a name, not a number.

Ramapo goes above and beyond, offering exceptional educational experiences that prepare students for successful futures.  Education is seen as dynamic and individualized, going beyond just majors or GPAs. As a public liberal arts college, students learn how to think, not what to think, with an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Ramapo provides intriguing hands-on programs that span from study abroad and scientific research to civic and community engagement and service learning.

The Ramapo campus community is vibrant and nurturing, providing unique opportunities for personal growth. Students can thrive and pursue their passion outside of the classroom in any of the more than 100 clubs and activities offered as well as NCAA III athletics and club and intramural sports. The community embraces diversity and active support for marginalized communities. Physical and mental well-being is a priority, ensuring students from diverse backgrounds can succeed and graduate. Career development through opportunities such as the Pathway Program and career fairs provide students with self-reflection, job market research, and networking skills that will serve them throughout their professional lives.
