Ramapo College’s Ben Levy Receives Fulbright Scholar Award

MAHWAH, N.J. — Ben Levy, Director of International Education at Ramapo College, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to Japan for International Education Administrators during June 2015, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship board announced.

Mr. Levy will learn about the Japanese Higher Education System, society and culture, as well as establish networks for Ramapo College and Japanese colleagues. He is one of 10 in this specific program grant and one of the approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program in 2014-15.

Mr. Levy has served as the Director of International Education/Senior International Officer at Ramapo College since 2010. His role at the College is comprehensive and inclusive of all international programs and initiatives, including institutional strategic planning, program development and international risk management. He has worked in the field of international education for more than 14 years, both in the U.S. and abroad. He is an active presenter at domestic and international conferences and offers training on a variety of subjects, including risk management, strategic planning, advocacy and re-entry, among others. Currently, he serves as co-chair for the Academic Working Group of the Overseas Security Advisory Council, the U.S. Department of State. In addition, he provides expertise and guidance to a number of organizational boards.

Mr. Levy, of North Plainfield, N.J., received a B.A. in environmental studies in 2001 from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and holds an M.A. in Sustainable Development in 2006 from the School for International Training, Brattleboro, Vermont.
