The completion of a Master of Science in Accounting will help students to significantly advance their knowledge and skills in this area and to meet the educational requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New Jersey and neighboring states. Preparation for the CPA exam is integrated into the curriculum content.
Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and graduates of master’s degree programs in Accounting can become effective professionals in accounting and control functions in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The advanced knowledge and education gained prepare graduates for careers in:
• Public Accounting and Auditing
• Forensic Accounting
• Federal, State and Local Taxation
• Accounting Information Systems
• Research and Data Analysis
• Management and Advisory Services
• Government and Not-For-Profit Accounting
Accounting professionals with CPA certification and advanced degrees have been shown to earn 5-15% more then their counterparts without credentials or degrees. This salary gap can increase over a career by up to $50,000 due to more promotions and higher-level positions. These compensation levels are expected to increase by 4.7% in the next year.1
