For first-generation students, connections with faculty and staff become significant as they navigate the college experience.

First-generation faculty and staff can…

  • Identify themselves as first-generation when they introduce themselves.
  • Connect with the First-Generation Student Center for opportunities to share their stories at events and through marketing materials.
  • Display a First-Generation History in the Making magnet in their office.  Visit D-212C to pick up a magnet today!

All faculty and staff can…

  • Stay informed regarding the increasing percentage of first-generation students at Ramapo.
  • Participate in training opportunities through the First-Generation Student Center to learn best practices to support first-generation Roadrunners.
  • Refer students to the First-Generation Student Center and to campus wide resources as needed.
  • Display a First-Generation History in the Making Ally magnet in their office.  Visit D-212C to pick up a magnet today!

Workshops

The First-Generation Student Center offers workshops and training opportunities to increase awareness and better support the experiences of first-generation Roadrunners and their families.  Topics will include:

  • How to Support First-Generation Roadrunners Inside and Outside the Classroom
  • Resources for Understanding the Challenges of First-Generation Students
  • The Power of Connection between Faculty/Staff and First-Generation Students
