Ramapo

Credit cards and cash are not accepted payment methods for Corporate Intern Housing at this time.

Please make separate checks for each month’s rent, additional parking (if applicable), and damage deposit payments.

Checks must be made payable to Ramapo College of New Jersey.

If the corporation is paying any fees for the intern, checks for such payment may be provided before or upon the intern’s arrival. The intern may present a check, written from the corporation to Ramapo College of New Jersey.

If you wish to send a check to us through the mail, it must be addressed to:

ATTN: VILLAGE OFFICE
Office of Residence Life
505 Ramapo Valley Road
Mahwah, NJ  07430-1623

We recommend that you write and date your checks before arriving on the campus.

Nightly Rental Rate – $49.42

For one single-bedroom space, per person, in a Village Apartment. Check out must occur by 1 PM on the following day in order to avoid being charged for an additional day’s stay for August.

Rent is always due in advance. Please refer to the Timeline for specific rent due dates.

The first month’s rent (referring to nights remaining within the month from the date of check-in) is due upon check-in. Since the days in May are for a short period, a check for June rent and a check for May rent are expected upon check-in days in May. If checking in during June, the June month’s rent (remaining nights) is due upon check-in. Refer to the Timeline for the due dates for each month’s rent. Please write separate checks for each month’s rent payment.

The per-night rental rate covers an intern/resident’s access to a shared apartment, including an individual bedroom and apartment utilities (i.e., water, electric, heat, and air).

Please note: there can be only one check-in date and one check-out date for each Corporate Intern. The nightly rental rate is applied to each night, including weekday and weekend nights. For example, there are 30 nights in June. An intern who reserves housing during June will be charged for 30 nights at the advertised nightly rental rate, regardless of the nights that the intern decides to actually access the assigned apartment.

Local motel rentals providing a bedroom and bathroom may charge only a few dollars more for nightly room rental, and they can accommodate a person’s wish to stay in the room for only a few nights per week. However, the intern’s stay at the beautiful Ramapo College campus includes a variety of services and amenities that we believe make it more comfortable and rewarding. At Ramapo, there is a Public Safety Office that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Damage Deposit – $200

Damage deposit is due upon check-in. Please make a separate check for the damage deposit. The damage deposit check will only be cashed if there are damages found following an inspection of the assignment after the resident has checked out.

The damage deposit must be made by a personal check. Money Orders, business checks, and certified bank checks would not be accepted.

The applicable refund amount will be mailed to the person and address provided by the intern on the housing application according to the Timeline.

Summer Parking Permit – Free

Free on-campus parking is available to each corporate intern for one vehicle per corporate intern resident. The vehicle must be registered for on-campus parking through the housing application form. A valid parking permit is required for interns to park a vehicle on campus during the intern’s summer residency. If you change the vehicle for which you originally got a parking pass, you can go directly to the Office of Public Safety in (C-102) and bring your current placard and request a new one.

Additional Parking Permits – $100 (optional)

Have multiple vehicles on campus? The cost of each additional parking permit is $100.

Processing Fee – $50

Each returned item (bounced check) will result in a $50 charge.

To make a billing adjustment for an earlier date of departure, for prorated billing without a processing fee, the intern must submit an email request to corpintern@ramapo.edu no later than July 1st and at least fourteen (14) calendar days before the new departure date. Refer to the Guide to Corporate Intern Housing for details.

Second/subsequent changes of departure dates (for prorating purposes) will result in a $50 processing fee per date change request.

Please note: checking out after 1 PM is considered another full night’s stay, charged to the intern based on the above nightly rental rate. Failure to check out by the previously approved check-out date will result in a $75 improper check-out fine and possible discarding of the intern’s personal belongings from the premises.

Late payment of costs may result in a $50 fine per day late.

Policy Violation Fine – $50+

College policy violation fines start at $50 per violation, per incident, per intern. Fines may be increased depending on the frequency of occurrence and severity of the situation. At the discretion of Ramapo College Staff, Corporate sponsors may be notified of any policy violation for which a corporate intern is responsible. Interns may be required to vacate the premises if deemed necessary by College Administration (see the Guide to Corporate Intern Housing for details).

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of the Housing Agreement should take place at least two weeks before the intern’s date of arrival. Cancellation after that date may result in the billing of a housing fee equivalent to two weeks’ rent, processing fees, and possibly the discontinuance of a positive working relationship with the sponsoring corporation. Monthly rent payment cannot be refunded for any reason.

Receipts

Intern payments, once collected, are confirmed with the intern via email from our official account (corpintern@ramapo.edu). This email will act as a receipt.
