We will be observing Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week from Monday, 11/17 to Friday, 11/23.
We invite you to join us for the following events (you can find these events on our Archway):
Monday
Food Insecurity Interactive Tabling: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Fishbowl
- Test your knowledge and learn about topics related to food and housing security. Students who join us for this event will have the opportunity to win a gift token to the RCNJ Farmers Market the following day (while supplies last).
Tuesday
RCNJ Farmers Market: 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Alumni Lounges
- The Ramsey Farmers Market is coming to campus! Come browse around and shop from local vendors, selling fresh food, dry goods, and other items.
Wednesday
OxFam Hunger Banquet: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Lounges
- The Oxfam Hunger Banquet is an interactive event that brings statistics about poverty to life. Guests randomly select tickets matching real people who are high-, middle-, or low-income earners, and receive accommodations matching their income. Throughout this interactive event, they will learn about poverty on a global scale and, hopefully, leave with a new perspective.
Thursday
Chopped Microwave Edition: 5:00 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. in Trustee’s Pavilion
- On this episode of Chopped, who will be on the chopping block? Participants will be provided with a bag of food and a microwave, and will be challenged to making a delicious meal with these provisions! One winner will leave victorious, and attendees will leave with some new knowledge on fun recipes that you can make in your residence hall.
Friday
Car Safety and Repair Demonstration: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on the Grove Lawn
- In partnership with Public Safety and Liberty Subaru, come out to the Grove to learn more about car safety and how to better maintain your vehicle! A mechanic from Liberty Subaru will be leading a demonstration on simple car repairs and other tips!
Saturday
Rebuilding Together North Jersey: 8:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m., Off Campus
- Join us as we work with RTNJ to repair houses that are in need of a variety of handiwork. Projects might include rebuilding decks and stairs, installing drywall and insulation, sanding, painting or sprucing-up the yard. No previous experience is necessary and all skill levels are welcome! Transportation will be provided.
Sunday
Ramsey Farmers Market Shuttle Highlight: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Bradley Center Bus Stop
- Missed Tuesday’s market? Don’t worry! For this event, we will take the Ramapo shuttle to the market, where students will have the opportunity to buy fresh produce. Students will also learn more about local businesses and community organizations surrounding Ramapo College. The shuttle will depart from the college (the Bradley Center bus stop) at 10 am, 11 am, and 12 pm. Riders will be given a $10 gift card that they can use while shopping around.
