Position Control

Position Control at Ramapo is the process of managing and monitoring all full-time personnel positions at the College with a focus on the position itself rather than the individual filling it. Position control tracks the budget and expense of each job or role, regardless of whether it is filled or vacant.  Part-time and adjunct positions are monitored with a focus on total budget for the unit rather than individual positions.

Each full-time position is associated with a specific budget line, allowing the college to ensure that personnel expenditures remain within approved financial limits. This process ensures that no hiring occurs without adequate funding, and salary commitments are monitored against the budget. Before a new position is created or filled, it must undergo an approval process through POER and the Request to Fill Committee. This process ensures alignment with institutional priorities and budgetary constraints.
