“My time at Ramapo College has deeply transformed me. Ramapo College has completely shaped both my academic and professional trajectory in ways I could not have imagined. As a adjunct professor of mathematics, on the verge of completing my second masters degree in computer science, I have experienced the rigorous nature and excellence of Ramapo College’s mathematics program. The faculty have been incredible mentors, pushing me beyond my limits, while giving me guidance, support, and personal connection. Their dedication to the success of their students is unparalleled, and I haven’t just learned advanced mathematical concepts, but also how to teach and communicate effectively within mathematics.
Programs like MASE have also been essential to my journey. Their flexibility and dedicated faculty allowed me to balance multiple roles, such as developing curriculum for high school computer science and math courses, being a coordinator of a summer, and much more. Beyond the classroom, the relationships I have built at Ramapo through faculty mentorship, collaborative projects, and informal interactions have been equally invaluable, fostering a sense of community, support, and shared purpose that is rare to find elsewhere.

Ramapo has not only strengthened my knowledge and professional skills, but it has also shaped my character, by committing myself to academic and career excellence. The combination of rigorous academics, personal mentorship, and a collaborative, flexible environment has prepared me to take on leadership roles in education, contribute meaningfully to my students’ development, and pursue ambitious professional goals. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and connections Ramapo has provided. My time at Ramapo has been an empowering and career-defining chapter of my life.” – Jarred Semelmacher ’24 ’25 graduated with his Bachelor’s in Mathematics on the Teacher-Education track and with a Master’s of Art in Special Education (MASE).
