Success Stories

Katie Attinello

As the Articles Intern for Woman’s Day, I worked closely with the features director and associate features editor at the magazine’s NYC office. Their department covers several reoccurring topics, including inspiring women, finances, and pets. I had the good fortune to observe and learn the process of researching, writing, and editing for these sections and others. My daily tasks often included conducting phone and email interviews, corresponding with readers and testers, developing new pitches for small reoccurring spotlight columns, finding new products for the pets section, and fact-checking. I was even given the opportunity to write a sidebar and lead item for the March and May issues, respectively, and captions for a photo flipbook now published on the magazine’s website. Woman’s Day is a Hearst publication, which houses titles likeCosmopolitan, Seventeen, Elle, and Esquire. Working with such a well-established magazine was a fantastic experience, and I owe all I’ve learned about the industry to my outstanding editors and the entire staff. The skills and networking I’ve built during this co-op are a tremendous supplement to my major, and have given me confidence to pursue a career in this field upon graduating.
