Rotary Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Rotary is a worldwide organization of businesses and professionals promoting the idea of community service in both the local and global community. The Bergen Highlands Rotary Club serves the entire Saddle River Valley area including Allendale, Ramsey, Mahwah, Saddle River and Upper Saddle River.

This award was created by the Bergen Highlands Rotary to commemorate deceased members and friends from northern N.J. The scholarship will recognize Ramapo students who are committed to community service, and serve as a way to memorialize members and friends of the Rotary.

2021 Honorees: Robert Baron, Vijay Dalal, Jack Levin, John Royle

  • Student must be an active volunteer (in excess of any school-required community service)
  • Demonstrated financial need as determined by Foundation policy
  • Legal resident of US residing in Bergen, Hudson or Passaic County
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Scholarship is renewable annually if the recipient carries a full course load, maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and is engaged in active community service
  • Selected by the Office of Admissions

This scholarship is not awarded through the application process.


2023 Recipient

Christopher Halter

Christopher Halter of Cliffside Park, N.J.is a Marketing major and earned a 3.6 GPA. “I hope to have a career in social media marketing, and am willing to put in the work, time, and dedication to becoming successful and achieving financial freedom.”

Outside of Ramapo, he enjoys learning about first aid through his job as a lifeguard at Ridgefield Community Pool. “I take initiative by using my years of experience as a first responder to teach the younger guards how to swing through the ropes of saving lives.”

Christopher Halter

“When I led the Interact Club in community service projects at Cliffside Park High School, I never expected to be recognized or rewarded for my efforts. This made it even more exciting when I was chosen for this award,” said Christopher Halter, a freshman Marketing major. “This scholarship is a significant contribution to my educational success.”
