Clark, Marilyn J. Scholarship Endowment

Marilyn J. Clark attended Ramapo College as a returning adult student. Majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology, she completed her degree in 1979.  As the mother of two sons, Walt Jamros ’95 and William Jamros, Ms. Clark attended the College part-time while working full-time at the Saddle River Day School.  She had a successful 29-year career at Saddle River Day School and served as the Director of Development.

Ms. Clark was recently honored by Congressman Josh Gottheimer as a “hometown hero” for her tremendous volunteer efforts. She also received the President’s Award of Merit, the highest award given to a Ramapo alumnus, at the 2019 Commencement ceremony.

Ms. Clark created this scholarship to benefit students from single-parent households.

2024 Recipients

Meaghan Ryan

Meaghan Ryan of Westtown, N.Y. is a Social Work Major with a 3.94 GPA.

At Ramapo, Meaghan has become a member of the Ramapo Social Work Club after transferring, and looks forward to becoming more involved as the semester continues.

Meaghan has also served as a volunteer for the WRC Theater Company as the Head of Choreography of children for the past 8 years and works at a local restaurant. 

After graduation, Meaghan plans on continuing her education post-graduation and obtaining a Master’s in Social Work. She has many areas of interest in her field, but plans to continue working with children throughout her career.

Meaghan Ryan

Meaghan Ryan of Westtown, N.Y. is a Social Work major while maintaining a 3.94 GPA.

At Ramapo, Meaghan is an active member in the Ramapo Social Work Club. She became a member this Fall after transferring and looks forward to becoming more involved as the semester continues.

Meaghan has also volunteered with children at the WRC Theater Company as the head of Choreography. Meaghan is extremely proud of the work she has done in the past eight years with the WRC Theater Company, as the company has been able to raise $100K for local charities since it began in 2013.

After Ramapo, Meaghan aspires to obtain a Master’s in Social Work. Afterward, she has a lot of areas of interest for where her field may take her, but plans on continuing working with children throughout her career.

Sarah Chavan-Janke

Sarah Chavan-Janke of Mahwah, N.J. is a Social Science Contract major with a concentration in Community Mental Health and a minor in Civic and Community Leadership. She has maintained a 3.22 GPA and is a proud member of EOF. 

At Ramapo, Sarah has been an active member of the community and held several positions, including the co-vice president seat and treasurer of 1STEP. Within this organization, she is able to advocate for a variety of social issues, with a focus on environmental justice, and educate members of the community on the realities of our current climate crisis. 

Sarah is also an avid volunteer for the Center for Food Action, in which she helps provide food for those in low-income areas. 

Post graduation, Sarah is looking forward to progressing into Law School, working within low-income outreach programs as she further pursues her education. She hopes one day to become a child maltreatment lawyer, in which she will be able to advocate for children and give them the support and care that all deserve, especially at such a young age.

2023 Recipients

Romell Kota

Romell Kota of Newark, N.J. is an Electronic Art and Animation major. She has a 3.8 GPA and has received Summa and Magna Cum Laude awards in her high school career. 

At Ramapo, Romell has been active in programs such as the Fashion Club and Ebony Women for Social Change. 

Romell has also been active in off-campus activities, including an internship in Newark called Magical Queer Art, where interns are to create and showcase art specializing in black bodies in nature.

After graduation, she plans to work in the animation industry, animating for cartoons or creating special effects in movies.

Katie Federico

Katie Federico of Fair Lawn N.J. is a Psychology major. She was part of the National Honor Society in high school and earned a 4.0 GPA. “I’m proud of how hard I worked in all four years of my high school career.”

After Ramapo, she hopes to receive her masters degree and PhD to become a clinical psychologist.

Jessica Lucas

Jessica Lucas of West Milford, N.J. is a freshman Nursing major. She graduated high school with a 3.9 GPA. “I hope to get involved on campus by joining the Nursing Student Organization and the Hiking Club.”

She spends her summers working as a Preschool teacher at a local daycare, and is also an EMT for the West Milford Volunteer First Aid Squad. In her free time Jessica performs in musicals with The Highland Stage company.

After graduation, she plans to work as a travel nurse and explore the world, all while helping others in need. “My future starts here at Ramapo, and I am eternally grateful to Marilyn J. Clark for supporting my studies.”


2021 Recipients

Charlanna Beirne

Charlanna Beirne of Howell, N.J. is a History major and Museum and Exhibition Studies minor, with a focus on German History. She has a 3.77 GPA and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Off campus, Charlanna is involved with the Greater Shore Concert Band, where she performed at Carnegie Hall and in multiple European countries. 

After graduating, she hopes to work as a Curator in Germany.

Henry Millar

“Having NYC so close to the campus has allowed me to expand my learning and my connections,” says Henry Millar of Galloway, N.J., who is a Visual Arts major with a concentration in Electronic Art and Animation. At Ramapo, Henry has gone to and been part of a few artist talks and artist panels that have been held on the campus, and he previously was involved with the E-sports club.

Mary Claire Kelty

“I am most proud of myself for overcoming the challenges that come with losing a parent,” Mary Claire Kelty says. “I know that my late mother would be proud to see that I am following in her footsteps and pursuing a career in nursing.”

Mary Claire Kelty of Atlantic Highlands, N.J. is a sophomore Nursing student with a 3.7 GPA and has consecutively made Dean’s List status. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the Nursing Student Organization, and hopes to volunteer with the Women’s Center.

During the summer, Mary Claire works as an ocean lifeguard and helps run the “Junior Guards” program, where she helps educate children about ocean safety. Upon graduation she plans to work as a Registered Nurse and is considering becoming a Nurse Practitioner.



2020 Recipients

Wellington Morales

“I’m proud to be the first in my family to go to college, and I hope to make my family immensely proud,” says Wellington Morales, a freshman from Randolph N.J.

Wellington works as a busser at a restaurant in Denville and during his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball with his friends. He hopes to participate in Greek Life at Ramapo. “My plan is to rise in my career, buy a house, and take care of my family.”

 

Ashley Gomez

“I work hard in all that I do, and when failure arises, I look at it as a learning experience to improve and grow as an individual,” says Ashley Gomez of Bogota, N.J.  She is a Global Communications and Media major who hopes to acquire an MBA.

Ashley is a member of the Black Student Union, Students of Caribbean Ancestry, and Ebony Woman for Social Change, along with a job as a desk attendant at the Bradley Center. She hopes to obtain leadership roles within these clubs.  She also wants to become a Peer Facilitator, Orientation Leader and a member of Ramapo’s Financial Group.

In recent years, Ashley helped organize an association in the Dominican Republic, named “Fundacion Nuestro Patio,” that helped raise money for children’s toys and school.


Henesis Vasquez Reynoso

Henesis Vasquez Reynoso of Vineland, N.J. is a freshman Accounting major and active member of the Black Student Union.  She is very proud to have graduated high school with a 3.98 GPA. In high school, she was in the STEM Club, Student Government Association, and the National Honor Society, where she enjoyed various creative and volunteer opportunities.  She also led the field hockey team as track manager. Previously, Henesis has worked as a Customer Service Associate at Wawa, where she handled currency, credit transactions and cold food preparation in the deli section.  “I hope to soon work for a company that feels like home and make my mother proud,” she says.


Margaret Fitzgerald

Margaret Fitzgerald of Highlands, N.J. is a freshman Nursing major.  She has applied to become a Violence Intervention Peer at the Office of Violence Prevention, and she is currently involved with the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County. “I plan on seeking out new community service opportunities in the Mahwah area,” says Margaret.  Upon graduation, she hopes to earn a Masters of Science in Nursing.



2019 Recipients

Andrew Kazlauskas

Andrew Kazlauskas of Freehold, N.J. is an Electronic Art and Animation major with a 3.9 GPA.

After transferring to a few schools, Andrew finally finished his high school career at Pemberton Township High School. “I hope Ramapo will be the first institution that I have consecutively attended for four years,” he says.

Andrew has been involved on campus through open mic nights, art exhibits, campus concerts, and his involvement in the Ramapo Music Club.  He plans on becoming more involved on campus in the coming years.

“I hope to gain more experience by interning at animation studios, and my goal is to animate for Marvel Studios or Marvel Animation.”


Lauren Bowden

Lauren Bowden of Bergenfield, N.J. has a 3.5 GPA and made the Dean’s List her first semester at Ramapo.  While currently undeclared, Lauren hopes to major in Sociology with a Criminology concentration and minor in Music.

“I work extremely hard to reach my goals, and even when I fail at times, I learn from it and continue to push forward,” says Lauren.

Off-campus, she is very active in her church as worship leader and a bible school assistant.

Sami Muhtaseb

Sami Muhtaseb of Woodland Park, N.J. is thinking of majoring in Digital Filmmaking. He has a 3.4 GPA, and after college, he plans to search for a job that relates to media production.

At Ramapo, Sami is active in the Muslim Student Association and has shown interest in the Peer Facilitation Program.

Sami has been involved in his community center, Circassian Benevolent Association in Wayne. There he has assisted with organizing community activities and, in his youth, he joined the Circassian Dance School.  He even got to perform at the United Nations in 2007. “I am very proud of this accomplishment and it has influenced me to accomplish even greater goals.”

Sami has volunteered for a junior boys’ basketball league in the Wayne PAL, and he has worked in a dental office.


Stefanie Guzman

Stefanie Del Carmen Guzman of North Bergen, N.J. is a Nursing major with a 3.5 GPA and has made the Dean’s List.

At Ramapo, Stefanie is part of the Nursing Student Organization, where she attends meetings, shares her opinion on how to better the organization and stresses the importance of nursing.  Stefanie volunteers in the Emergency Room at Palisades Medical Center and works as a receptionist at her local dentist’s office.

“I was inspired by my late grandfather to pursue nursing, for all he wanted was for me to help others the way I helped him.” When she graduates, Stefanie plans to work as an ER nurse and get her Master’s in Nursing.


2018 Recipients

Sabrina Santamaria

Sabrina Santamaria is a junior Political Science major. She has a 3.89 GPA and has continuously received recognition by the Dean’s List for her academic achievements. She is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Golden Key International Honour Society (Vice President). In addition, Sabrina serves as the President of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society.

Sabrina is active on campus in several organizations including the Student Government Association (Senator of HGS), the HGS Dean’s Advisory Council, Phi Alpha Delta: Pre-Law Fraternity, and the Ramapo Journal of Law & Society (Volunteer Editor).

She interned recently for a Congressional campaign where she assisted in the election process. She also recently interned for the Honorable Judge Linda Lordi Cavanaugh in the Superior Court of Essex County.


Deanna Venezio

Deanna Venezio of Brick, N.J. is a Theatre major with a minor in Literature. She currently holds a 3.5 GPA. Deanna has been active in several clubs and organizations, including Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and Alpha Psi Omega (National Theater Honor Society), where she has been very involved in fundraising and philanthropy. “This experience has really allowed me to branch out even further and learn the values of commitment and generosity.”

Since her freshman year, she has further explored her love and passion for performance through Ramapo’s theater and film program and has performed in several main stage productions at the Berrie Center. She works for the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) on campus.

“I love to write and communicate with others, which is why I study American Sign Language, a second language I am passionate about.” She hopes to one day teach English and Literature at the college level, or perhaps bring English to those seeking to learn it.



2017 Recipient

Alexandra Tray

Biology major Alexandra Tray hopes to one day become an orthodontist.  To help prepare her for her career, she is the treasurer and president of the PreMed PreHealth Club on campus, and shadows a dentist off campus.  She has also held the positions of social and fundraising chair for Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and has been a Residence Assistant in Pine Hall for the past year and a half.

Alexandra is from Brick, NJ and has a 3.0 GPA.


2016 Recipient

Meagan Collins

Meagan Collins of Stony Point, NY is a Political Science major and as a freshman is a member of the Honors Program.

Meagan is looking forward to becoming active in the newspaper and theater program.

Off campus, Meagan coaches bowling at Hi Tor Lanes.
